‘…make his paths straight…’

Did these at Pain in the Arts yesterday, thinking about next Sunday (Advent 2)’s lectionary reading from Luke 3:1-6:

Climate-change Pantokrator

This is an image Marcus put together for church at Footscray Baptist on Sunday:

I was reading the Revised Common Lectionary on Sunday with Luke getting all apocalyptic.  What with ” Son of Man coming on cloud”, “seas roaring, consider the trees… signs of the times etc.  With our hottest November since 1868 being announced it [...]

What I’ve been drawing in my notebook

Did this at Pain in the Arts on Wednesday:

Mission Exposure Week

Last night we started Mission Exposure Week once again. We have five punters staying with us to learn about Urban Seed. Last night we spent some time sharing about our faith journeys and this morning Kate took us on the first part of the Mark’s gospel Bible walk, following Jesus’ journey to the margins in [...]

Examen, St Mary’s, Bible soaps, Credo and cardboard

Early this morning Sarah Scott-Webb (from our Youth & Schools team) led us through an examen for debrief/prayers.
Afterwards Andreana took the Mission Exposure punters up to visit St Mary’s House of Welcome in Fitzroy. I stayed back to cook lunch in Credo. (Chicken soup and vegetable soup.)
At Credo gathering Spriggsy inited us to think about [...]

Christ, Krishna and Chris

Alice was reflecting a bit on an encounter she had on Sunday night with an indigenous person in Credo, and on the differences between indigenous/colonist relationships in Australia and Aotearoa (New Zealand).
We [...]

I drew this at Pain in the Arts last year, when I was working on the Sacred Space for State Youth Games. It’s based on Ezekiel’s parable of the vine in Babylon (Ezekiel 17).
(Unfortunately I ended up having to pull out of [...]

Lenten Lectionary – March 8

This is my response to today’s Lenten Lectionary reading:

The Unburned Bush

This is an animation about the unburned bush, which I produced for ‘Prayers for Melbourne’ at Collins Street Baptist Church, last week. I tried to upload it after I used it, but I had to work out how to make Vimeo videos work in WordPress. Then after the weekend I didn’t know if it was [...]

Vines in Babylon

Thought I should post some updated pictures of our rooftop garden. Took these Thursday night while we were having dinner up there (which included home-grown zucchini), and was thinking about the parable from Ezekiel 17 about the vine trying to grow in Babylon.
