This Sunday will be the first Sunday of Advent, so I’ve been having a bit of a look at the lectionary readings. Jeremiah 33 talks about how Israel is pretty much doomed because of their evil. But then it goes on to talk about God causing ‘a righteous branch to spring up for David’. So [...]

One of the things I remember about primary school was clean up duty. There was always lots of rubbish in the school yard, so every now and then it’d be your turn to pick up rubbish at lunch time. If you got in trouble with a teacher, you might also have to pick up rubbish [...]

Tuesday is Melbourne Cup Day. The Melbourne Cup is known as ‘the race that stops a nation’. Even though it’s a public holiday in Melbourne Credo is still going to be open. We basically don’t want the TAB to be the only place in town for people to go and hang out.
I’ve been thinking about what [...]

I spent all day on Monday doing a Bible walk around Melbourne CBD with some people from YWAM in Adelaide. Towards the end of the walk we visited the Casino, to read from Mark’s Gospel about Jesus’ visits to the Temple in Jerusalem.
While we were at the Casino I found myself thinking about the relationships [...]

Last night Tim and I visited Wipeout, which is a youth group at St Hilary’s in Kew, for year 7 to 9.
Tim talked a bit with the kids about homelessness.
Later on we had some time for everyone to interact with a number of stations we’d set up around the space.
Station 1: Home

Mehrin and I went and saw Bastardy tonight. It’s a documentary about Jack Charles, an indigenous actor, cat burglar and heroin user. He talks about robbing rich people as collecting the rent from people living on his land. Very good film. You should go and see it, while it’s still screening.
